GUCCI NAMES SABATO DE SARNO AS NEW CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Italian fashion designer Sabato De Sarno has been named the new creative director for Gucci.  The announcement was made on Instagram as the luxury fashion house welcomed him in his new position.

De Sarno will be replacing Alessandro Michele, who stepped down in November 2022 after 7 years, and reporting to the President and CEO of Gucci, Marco Bizzarri.

The newly appointed director was “deeply honored" and "proud to join a House with such an extraordinary history and heritage".

Sabato's resume is impressive, previously working for Prada, Dolce & Gabbana then Valentino in 2009 where he last held the position of fashion director.

His first collection will debut at Milan Women's Fashion Week in September 2023. Alessandro's departure was sudden as he was credited for revitalizing the brand and generating increased revenue. It will be interesting to see the direction Sabato takes the fashion house in the future.
