Days after announcing their litigation against production company North Six for the the creation of ads picturing children with sexual bondage toys, Balenciaga has reversed course and advised they will no longer be pursuing litigation among other corrective measures.
In a statement posted on Instagram, the fashion brand confirmed it will be taking actions to "learned from our mistakes" including in-house training and donating to groups created for the protection of children.
Balenciaga also advised that it would be creating an "image board" for "evaluating the nature of our ads" with respect to "legal, sustainability and diversity".
Balenciaga's Creative Director, Demna Gvasalia, also issued a statement "to personalize apologize" for the direction taken in the ads while condemning child abuse. He promised that "Balenciaga has guaranteed that adequate measures will be taken not only to avoid similar mistakes in the future but also to take accountability in protecting child welfare in every way we can."
